About Trusted Electricians
Electrical work is often difficult to compare from a short description. A socket that looks like a quick addition may need a new route through a solid wall, while missing paperwork might be resolved by tracing a record rather than commissioning a whole-house inspection. Trusted Electricians gives homeowners and landlords a place to explain those needs to independent local electricians.
Trusted Electricians is a matching service for independent businesses. One free online enquiry can help you receive up to four quotations from local electricians, depending on coverage, the work requested and availability. Four quotations are not guaranteed, and there is no obligation to accept one.
Our role in your project
We introduce your enquiry to relevant businesses. We do not carry out electrical work, employ the electricians or certify their installations. The electrician assesses the property, sets their own price and explains the work they propose. You choose who to appoint, and the work contract is between you and that business.
The service covers small electrical works, rewiring, garden lighting, EICRs, survey and certificate enquiries, and home EV chargepoints. Within those categories, practical details matter: a bathroom fan needs a suitable location and isolation arrangement, a garden room needs its intended loads assessed, and a rewire needs a room-by-room layout.
What network checks mean for homeowners
Companies joining the network are asked to provide relevant insurance details and references. Before booking, check current insurance, relevant experience and registration for the work yourself. Electrical Safety First’s electrician register can help you check a business’s listed scope. A listing or introduction does not replace agreeing a written specification with your chosen electrician.
Ask for experience that fits the job. Regular domestic installation work and detailed inspection and testing are different areas of competence. For an EV charger, ask about supply assessment and the network connection process; for a survey, ask what is inspected and how limitations will be recorded. References are most helpful when they concern similar work.
Make the quotation useful
Agree the fittings, cable routes and finishing work before accepting a price. A rewire should identify circuit and point counts, while a lighting scheme should name the fittings and controls. An EICR quotation should distinguish the report from any repairs found necessary afterwards. Confirm when documents will be supplied and who handles any required notification.
Ask who will inspect and test the work, which electrical certificate is included and who handles any building-control notification. Approved Document P for England explains England’s notification rules. Wales has its own Part P guidance; Scotland and Northern Ireland have different building standards arrangements. The job and its location determine the route, so agree it before work begins.
Coverage and availability
You can send an enquiry for a UK property. Matching depends on businesses covering that postcode and taking on the particular work, so responses and appointment times vary. A small call-out and a week-long rewire may attract different firms. There is no promise of an immediate visit or a fixed number of quotes.
Keep control of the decision
Take time to compare written quotations, ask about unclear exclusions and agree how changes will be authorised. Keep the scope, invoices and certificates together afterwards. They can be useful when maintaining the installation, arranging later work or answering a future buyer’s questions.
If you notice scorching, a burning smell, electric shocks or exposed wiring, keep away from the affected equipment and seek urgent professional help. Do not remove covers or repeatedly reset a tripping circuit. This quote form is for enquiries and is not an emergency response service.
When you are ready, describe your electrical project. Include what you know and leave technical assessments to the electrician.
